Free NFL tickets? It's the latest attempt to get workers back to the office

Manhattan landlord GFP Real Estate is dangling free tickets to New York Giants and Jets football games to lure workers back to their offices.

Employees of tenants in GFP's buildings, which include 505 Eighth Ave. and 1560 Broadway, can enter daily to win one of 238 pairs of tickets to regular-season home games for the Giants and Jets, according to a statement Thursday.

Those tickets include a seat at a VIP suite and complimentary drinks and food, with each pair of tickets valued at about $3,500. To enter the contest that runs through the end of the year, workers must show up to the office and scan a QR code on posters displayed at the lobbies.

The concept is "a fun way to reward employees who have returned to work, while incentivizing those who continue to work from home," Jeff Gural, chairman and principal of GFP Real Estate, said in the statement.  "The faster we can have people returning to their offices, the faster New York City businesses, restaurants and retailers will recover.  That is the end goal."

Landlords and employers across New York have been pushing for a larger return to Manhattan offices, which have been relatively empty for more than two years. Major banks from Goldman Sachs to Morgan Stanley have reminded employees that they're wanted in the office

The football contest is one of the latest rewards offered by GFP, which owns more than 55 buildings. In the summer, the landlord offered tenants the chance to win tickets to concerts at MetLife Stadium, which included shows from Coldplay, Elton John and The Weeknd. The landlord also said it provided ice cream socials, free coffee and donuts to tenants who showed up to work.
