The industry made headlines this week when Assurant announced its leaving the health insurance market and ADP filed a defamation lawsuit against Zenefits. Heres how EBA readers reacted to this weeks news.

'Tragic' loss
Losing any carrier is terrible. Losing one who has been in business over 100 years is tragic. All because the federal government didn't reimburse them over $30 million dollars for losses they experienced because of this ill-fated Affordable Care Act!

Assurant will be missed
This is too bad they could not remain vibrant. Definitely a top-three best carrier I have dealt with from the prospect sales process (John Sullivan) to all the home office people. Highly responsive and on the up and up all the time. They will be missed and doubt any replacement.

Eliminate ACA subsidies
Laws must be enforced as written, and in this case that means the subsidies go away. If SCOTUS has any integrity or respect for law, they will side with King and invalidate the subsidies.

Keep tax credits, repeal the rest
Let the subsidies stay, but get rid of the rest of it. If the subsidies go, more states will want their own exchanges, the Feds will pay outrageous sums to build them and we will be no better off, but poorer.

Law of economics holds true
Ten million people lost insurance they liked when Obamacare took effect. Turns out the laws of economics hold for pie-in-the-sky schemes like Obamacare even if the Democrats wish they did not.

A bureaucratic nightmare
The waste of time and money to employers to satisfy the ACA is only something that a community organizer could think up and consider to be a good program. For those who wanted hope and change from Obama, you certainly got change. Now we need to hope for change so we can get rid of this ridiculous bureaucratic nightmare.

Keep doing what youre doing, Zenefits
I hope the Zenefits board of directors keeps Parker Conrad around. If left to his own devices, he'll single handily bring down the company.
