While a majority of employers are trying to bring employees back to the office in some capacity, that doesn't mean remote work is dead — job seekers just have to know where to look.

Remote jobs search engine Flexjobs ranked which companies talent should be applying to if they want flexible work arrangements. Flexjobs cross-referenced its own database of companies that have hired for remote jobs with Comparably's Happiest Employees 2023 report, pinpointing companies with the best cultures. Although arguably a great work culture and flexibility go hand-in-hand, says Keith Spencer, career expert at Flexjobs.

"Flexibility is a crucial part of building a happy work culture because it directly impacts the quality of an employee's work-life balance," he says. "This can help reduce stress levels, decrease burnout, and minimize employee turnover, while also fostering a greater sense of trust and helping companies attract and retain top talent."

Big tech names like Adobe and AT&T made the list, as well as more HR and professional services-oriented companies like ADP and Boston Consulting Group. Alongside flexibility, Spencer emphasizes that competitive salaries and benefits, open communication and a meaningful mission all play into whether employees will be happy with their employer.
