Benefits Think Amid high unemployment, employers suffering from ‘arrogance of supply,’ expert says

Whether you believe the latest jobs report or not, the bottom line is there are a lot of Americans out of work. And while it’s true that a mismatch of jobs and candidates with the skills to do those jobs, it’s also true, staffing experts say, that employers have gotten a wee too picky.

Yes, it’s crucial to do adequate due diligence to make the right hire. Of course. But as they’ve seen more and more applicants per one opening, employers are beginning to suffer from an “arrogance of supply,” according to Rusty Rueff, a career expert with Glassdoor.com. Speaking to “Today” online, Rueff said, “[Employers have] become pickier and pickier and pickier … to a fault in some cases.”
