Unum products score high in independent survey

Of the 568 short-term disability, accident and critical-illness claimants with voluntary policies from Unum responding to an independent customer-satisfaction survey, 90% said they would recommend the carrier to their co-workers.

In addition, Market Decisions found that those who had received a claim payment between November 2009 and January 2010 gave high marks to Unum’s critical-illness coverage (86% were satisfied with the overall claims process and 84% would recommend the product). Respondents also were highly satisfied with Unum’s benefit communications and timely payments.

Unum, whose voluntary benefits business has grown 15% on average each year for the past decade, ranks second among for voluntary inforce premiums, according to a 2009 Eastbridge Consulting Group survey.
