Walgreens survey offers 100 million reasons to get a flu shot

I confess: Although I always make sure my children get annual flu shots, I haven’t had on myself in more than three years. The last one I got was when I was pregnant with my daughter — and it was for her more than me.

Before that, the last time I got a flu shot I still got the flu. Sick and tired (literally), I swore them off. However, survey results from Walgreens may help me end my flu shot moratorium.

According to Walgreens, last flu season resulted in 100 million lost work days and nearly $7 billion in lost wages. In addition, Walgreens projects that nearly 2 million business trips were cancelled last flu season.

I have three business trips scheduled during flu season, and don’t want to lose any work days either. So, as I make my kids’ appointments for flu shots this year, I may (may) make one for myself, too.

Do you get an annual flu shot? Do you make flu shots for employees affordable and accessible? What are the results? Share your thoughts in the comments.
