Skinny plans dont encourage employee motivation
So you offer employees a plan that is garbage and that at the same time prevents them from receiving a subsidy. That must be very motivational to the employees at the companies that offer these plans.

What does substantial hospitalization mean?
Substantial hospitalization can mean whatever they want it to mean and it will be strictly interpreted against the employer in most every situation.

The only ones surprised are the architects of Obamacare, the Democrats. Grandiose ideas with no basis in reality- that sums up Obamacare as well as most government programs.

This is nonsense
So you reward the plans that gouge employees with high deductibles and continue to penalize employers who try to do the right thing for employees? This is nonsense - but quite in keeping with the way gubbamint thinks.

CDHPs are an excellent way to control costs
Consumer Driven Health Plans are an excellent way for employees and employers to control costs. Health Savings Accounts help employees/employers set aside pre-tax dollars to offset the deductible. The alternative is handing over the same funds to the insurance company whether or they are utilized for services. It takes a thorough understanding of the benefits of a high deductible plan to understand they aren't bad. They're a tool to reign in health care costs while, paired with an HSA, still providing good benefits to employees. Hopefully more of us in the benefits world will develop a greater understanding of how these plans work.
