For all the news of layoffs, salary cuts and freezes, I thought I'd bring you some news about jobs that truly are recession-proof.
Manpower Inc. recently released its annual list of the nation's toughest jobs to fill. Unfortunately, HR/benefits professional is not among them, but recent reports do show that the economy has spurred some people to change careers. If that sounds like you, these are the jobs to consider:
1. Engineers
2. Nurse
3. Skilled/Manual trades
4. Teachers
5. Sales representatives
6. Technicians
7. Drivers
8. IT staff
9. Laborers
10. Machine operators
According to Manpower's Jonas Prising, these jobs seem secure in good times and bad. "In the four years we have performed this research, the same positions appear on the list again and again."
Does your company serve any of thse industries? Are these indeed the toughest positions to fill? Would you consider switching to any of these professions?
