GOP Senators join the quest for answers on meaningful use

Two weeks after four GOP leaders of the U.S. House raised questions about the value of the EHR meaningful use program and possible use of EHRs to overbill, Modern Healthcare reports that four Senate counterparts now want similar answers.

Sens. John Thune and Dr. Tom Coburn of the Finance Committee, and Richard Burr and Pat Roberts of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee have asked HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius for a meeting with Senate committee staff to discuss the electronic health records meaningful use program and the issue of whether providers are using EHRs to overbill Medicare.
