Job seekers aren't just looking for any available openings — applicants expect to know how much they're going to be compensated, and companies are beginning to catch on.

More than half the workers in the U.S. didn't negotiate their salary offer on their last job, according to data from management consulting company Robert Half. It's a costly oversight that could add up to $600,000 in lost compensation throughout their career. Yet having access to salary ranges is a crucial part of obtaining equitable compensation. To highlight companies who are taking pay transparency seriously, FlexJobs released the top 20 companies including these ranges in their job listings.

"Transparency removes the mystery of [compensation]," says Joe Galvin, chief research officer at Vistage. "You can no longer hide from the people you want to attract or the people who work for you how much you're willing to pay for a job."

Eight states, including New York, California and Colorado, have enacted some form of pay transparency legislation that varies in how they require companies to disclose their ranges, when and how a salary range must be provided to employees or applicants, and how they enforce it. Fifteen more states, including Oregon and New Jersey, are currently considering implementing their own salary range transparency laws

"There will always be employees who just chase a higher number," Galvin says. "Taking the shroud off of what that number is will force organizations to base their strategies on actually recruiting instead of just relying on their ability to hire."

Among the companies that have already begun disclosing the salary ranges for open positions both on their site and their LinkedIn pages are CVS Health, Starbucks and Vox Media. See which other companies have made it a point to prioritize transparency:
