This year marks the 10-year anniversary of Employee Benefit Adviser’s first issue. Looking back at some of our earliest editions, I’m reminded of the proverb, “the more things change, the more they stay the same.”
For example, in a July 2004 article on life insurance MetLife’s Tony Trani said, “There has not been a lot of communication or an effort to educate employees on the value of the benefit.” He could be talking about almost any benefit out there today, as employers still struggle with effective communication. Cyndy Nayer drives this point home in a thought-provoking article on outcomes-based contracting (“The danger of penalties,” p. 48).
