As a HR/benefits professional, do you ever feel like you’ve got the worst job in the world? If so, you’re wrong, according to CareerCast, which lists human resources manager at No. 3 among its 2012 Best Jobs rankings.
After analyzing the physical and emotional demands of certain jobs — including necessary energy, work conditions, degree of competitiveness and degree of personal hazards — each element was given points, with lower totals making a job more desirable.
Joining HR practitioners on CareerCast’s top five “best” list are software engineer (No. 1) , actuary (No. 2), dental hygienist (No. 4) and financial planner (No. 5).
Staking claim to the top spot in this year’s “worst” list is lumberjack, due to the profession’s high unemployment rates, high dangers and low demand for services. Other new additions to this year’s Worst Jobs list include enlisted military soldier, waiter/waitress, dishwasher and butcher.
