I struggled all week about whether to dedicate a post to last weekend’s Tucson shooting. Obviously, it’s been on all of our hearts and minds, but I couldn’t really find the words to describe what I was thinking and feeling — let alone find a way to put it into a benefits-related context.
However, Cyndy Nayer, president of the Center for Health Value Innovation, was able to find words to connect Saturday’s tragedy with today’s debate over health care benefits and posted them in her own blog on the CHVI website.
Although I’m not certain I agree with her take on whether an improved mental health system could have prevented the shooting, I admire her courage to attempt to point to ways that our nation can make positive steps forward in the wake of such a negative event.
