For the past three days, many in the health care business took to Facebook to talk about the launch of the Affordable Care Act’s health insurance exchanges. EBA complied a selection of these posts.
On Facebook, brokers were quick to share their experiences of looking at and attempting to work with the exchanges.
Many reported issues with login:
“I'm supposed to be writing a cutting-edge article about the Marketplace. …. Problem is, I can’t even get on the marketplace website and find out any information. I'm totally frustrated.” — A broker from Texas
“Checked back in on Obamacare Marketplaces. Website still won't let me past the setup screens, kicks me out, then does not recognize the login and password that I just entered. I tried the 800 number and I am told that no one can get any quotes for any coverage anywhere.” — A broker from Ohio
“It's 1:08 a.m. on Oct. 1 — Obamacare is in effect and there is not one broker/agent in California that can sell it — ’CAUSE Covered CA doesn't have their Agent Agreement finalized! And 'the public' expects this to work?” — A California broker
“So HHS did not expect millions of people to try and log into the Marketplace for quotes on the first day? Really? Who are these people?” — A Canadian broker
Some took to Facebook to give advice to the government on how to improve the ACA:
“While our government is stumbling to find common ground, I would like them to think about some actions that could help make the ACA work better. 1. FIX THE SUBSIDY ISSUE FOR DEPENDENTS … 2. GIVE ME MORE PLAN CHOICE.” — A San Diego area broker
Yet others took to Facebook to advertise their services:
“The Affordable Care Act, (Obamacare) ACA, or healthcare reform law requires you to have health insurance. As a licensed agent, I am certified to assist those interested in purchasing health insurance; I will assist you through this process.” — A financial coach in Texas
