A number of employee benefit adviser veterans found new jobs and key roles inside brokerages, insurance firms and private companies.

As the temperatures continue to soar across the country, the wave of new hires and promotions inside major employee benefits, insurance and technology firms are reaching the boiling point as well. In the past month there have been key appointments inside EPIC and Fidelity while Versant Health and Voluntary Disruption both made multiple additions to its teams. Here we look at some of the key roles filled at brokerages, benefits admin and consulting firms, and healthcare services providers.

Conrad named principal for EPIC’s Southern California operations

Sean Conrad joined EPIC Insurance Brokers and Consultants' operations in Southern California as a principal. Conrad will be based in EPIC's Irvine, Calif. office where he will work with Jim Gillette, president of the company's Pacific South Region, and Irvine Managing Principal and Branch Leader Tony D'Asaro. Conrad will be responsible for new business development as well as the design and oversight of employee benefit brokerage and consulting services for mid-market and large clients. Prior to joining EPIC, Conrad was a senior vice president for Wells Fargo Insurance Services.

Versant Health names Giumetti as VP of sales

With more than 15 years of experience in insurance sales management, Tony Giumetti has been named vice president of sales for versant health. He will cover the orange County, California region for the brokerage. He was most recently the national vice president of sales and marketing at BEST Life & Health.

Benefitfocus appoints Haderer as EVP Global Operations

Cloud-based benefits platform provider Benefitfocus appointed Ken Haderer to the newly created role of executive vice president, global operations. Prior to joining Benefitfocus, Haderer was president of North America at Mercer, and before that he had served as its COO. He will be in charge of driving core process improvements and evolving customer best practices. He will also further accelerate adoption of the BenefitsPlaces technology platform.

Voluntary Disruption taps Hartin as national sales director

The benefits firm Voluntary Disruption names veteran Brandy Hartin as its national sales director. Before joining Voluntary Disruption, Hartin was as a broker sales consultant for Aflac. She will report directly to Eric Silverman, Founder and Owner of Voluntary Disruption. Her responsibilities will include prospecting and securing new adviser, broker and consultant partner relationships as well as working as Voluntary Disruption’s head of all group client strategy, new account installs and enrollments.

Koebel joins Versant Health as regional VP of sales

A veteran of the insurance industry, Tom Koebel is the regional vice president of sales for Versant Health’s Miami and Ft. Lauderdale region. Until this new role, he was most recently the vice president of client management at Aetna Dental & Vision. Before then, he was national accounts specialty sales director at Anthem and also served as vice president of sales at Florida Dental Benefits.

Versant Health picks Mays for VP of sales

Tom Mays is the new vice president of sales for Versant Health. He will focus on the Tulsa, Oklahoma region. He joins Versant Health from Humana, where he was the national director of sales over the field marketing organization channel. Formerly, he served as Humana’s national sales director in Arkansas and Oklahoma between February 2006 and May 2018.

Voluntary Disruption hires Schwartz as account manager, benefits analyst

Voluntary Disruption, a division of Silverman Benefits Group, has tapped Stephanie Schwartz to expand its client service capabilities and benefits data analytics. Schwartz has more than seven years of insurance and employee benefits experience and will serve as an account manager and benefits analyst. Schwartz will report to Eric Silverman, founder of Voluntary Disruption.

Tatar joins Fidelity’s health and welfare consulting practice

Fidelity Benefits Consulting has appointed Erin Tatar to the role of senior vice president within its Health and Welfare consulting practice. With more than 25 years in the benefits consulting space, she will focus on helping employers evaluate and improve workforce health and the delivery of health care plan benefits. Tatar joins Fidelity from Willis Towers Watson, where she led its Health Management practice.

EPIC adds Walter as chief talent officer

EPIC Holdings, parent company of EPIC Insurance Brokers & Consultants, has added human capital professional Janine Walter, SPHR, SHRM-SCP as the firm's chief talent officer. She will also become a member of the EPIC Executive Committee. Walter will report to EPIC Holdings CEO John Hahn and will work with Pete Garvey, Steve Denton and the EPIC Executive Leadership team. Walter's responsibilities will include HR, leadership development, recruitment, organizational change initiatives, benefit design and M&A/onboarding and integration project management.
