Earl is an expert in information security and cybersecurity strategy and policy. He joined Promontory from the White House National Security Staff, where he advised the president on cybersecurity. He is also a highly regarded academic, with a Ph.D. from George Washington University in large-scale computer network defense, and serving as an adjunct professor at Carnegie Mellon University for the past 12 years. At Promontory, Earl specializes in helping clients develop strategic solutions to growing cybersecurity challenges.Earl was director for federal cybersecurity policy on the president�s National Security Staff from 2011 to 2013.From 2005 to 2011, Earl was the Department of Homeland Security�s director of cybersecurity strategy and its chief information security architect.Prior to DHS, Earl was a senior security consultant at Foundstone Inc., a division of McAfee.
