Iain Briggs

Iain Briggs is a senior managing director in FTI Consulting’s Healthcare Practice. Mr. Briggs has 30 years of experience working with financially challenged organizations, with the last fourteen in the healthcare provider industry. His areas of specialty include turnaround management, financial restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, bankruptcy reorganizations, business development, strategic advisory, operational improvement, contract review and negotiation, and creditor relations. He works closely with hospital boards, executive management teams and the municipal finance community. Mr. Briggs has served as a chief executive officer (CEO) and a chief financial officer (CFO) and has acted as an advisor on turnaround projects. He has worked on the sale, merger or reorganization of more than 20 healthcare organizations including acute care hospitals, specialty hospitals, physician hospital organizations, health maintenance organizations and third-party administrators. In all cases, EBITDA improvement or recovery has exceeded expectations. Mr. Briggs joined FTI in 2005 with its acquisition of Cambio Health Solutions, where he had worked for eight years. He previously served as senior manager for Deloitte & Touche, where he provided a broad range of audit, merger and acquisition, turnaround and restructuring advisory services focusing on operational and financial improvement. At a public U.K. marketing services company he was responsible for international acquisitions (Europe, Middle East and the United States) and oversaw the operational management of several subsidiaries. He moved to the United States in 1989, where he has served as CEO and CFO to support the turnaround of several healthcare and financial service companies. Mr. Briggs holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Nottingham, England. He is a chartered accountant (member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW)). He is frequently invited to speak at healthcare finance conferences – including Healthcare Financial Management Association, the National Federation of Municipal Analysts, Bond Buyer and others.
