Overview
This week, a new coalition dedicated to repealing the ACAs excise tax on high-cost group plans was formed. Heres what EBA readers had to say about the tax set to take effect in 2018.

Employers will have to eliminate benefits
This tax also is assessed against the cost of other plans that may raise the combined cost above the $10,000 & $27,000 limits for individual and family respectively. Such plans as pre-tax hospital and other indemnity plans, HSA & HRA plans. (Plans to help pay or reduce the cost of deductibles of the ACA plans.) In the end, this tax will kill the gains made by the Affordable Care Act and cause many businesses to not offer any health plan.

Is this any way to run a country?
This could be one of the biggest reasons why Congress should actually read the legislation they propose. I realize reading bills takes work and is a novel concept, but really??? Is this any way to run a country?

Middle-class will foot the bill
Yes, more bipartisan grandstanding which will go nowhere because the emperor of the U.S. will veto it, and there will be no override. I agree with Mr. Courtney that employers who reduce benefits will not offset this directly with wage increases, but I find Guinta's statement about Congress not being concerned about the pay-for amusing. One way or another, this pay-for comes out of the middle-class Americans' pocket.

The only way this tax survives is if Hillary wins the White House and uses it as the lever to move the country to single payer.
