Lindsey Bandison translates the tougher information

Lindsey Bandison has a talent for translating complex benefits information into clear, accessible content.

"I put a lot of care into how information is presented, whether that is through thoughtfully designed presentations or the way a session is structured and communicated, because I believe that how you deliver information is just as important as the information itself," said Bandison, benefits customer support supervisor at the University of Pittsburgh.

Bandison is part of a team that built the university's Bridging Benefits program in 2025. Instead of guessing what employees needed, the team took a data-driven approach, pulling feedback from Salesforce, pre-session registration surveys, and real-time questions collection.

The team also used AI tools, including Claude, throughout the content development process. AI helped organize agendas, shape the presentation flow, and ensure the material was clear, easy to digest, and employee-friendly. The result was a more efficient process that still produced polished, professional materials with a strong focus on employee understanding.

"In 2025, we held 13 sessions and welcomed a total of 2,105 attendees across the year," Bandison said.

The sessions reflected the topics employees at the university care most about, including retirement readiness, education benefits for dependent children, financial wellness, and maximizing FSAs.

"Building on that momentum, we launched 'Retirement Readiness' in May 2026, a focused spinoff summer series running May through August with 10 sessions dedicated entirely to preparing employees for retirement," Bandison said. "Taking a well-rounded approach, the series covers healthcare, Medicare, financial and retirement savings planning, estate planning, lifestyle planning, and aging well, with guest speakers and subject matter experts from our community partners and vendors."

Bandison said that one of her primary goals is to continue to integrate AI into the way the university's benefits team supports and engages with employees.

"What's important to me as we grow these capabilities is that technology enhances rather than replaces the human connection that defines our team," she said. "We will continue to prioritize employee feedback and collaboration to make sure that as we innovate, we stay true to our culture of warmth, community and care."

Lindsey will be honored at EBN's Benefits at Work conference in September, which you can learn more about here.
