Father’s Day, Frosties and family combine in the best way this weekend

I grew up without my dad, so now that I’m married to a wonderful man who’s an even better father, Father’s Day (June 20) is extra special to me.

My husband is a big fan of Wendy’s, so to help celebrate him and contribute to the effort to find loving dads (and moms) for U.S. children awaiting adoption, I may buy my guy one of Wendy’s’ famous Frosties.

This weekend, when you visit your local Wendy's restaurant, Wendy's will donate 50 cents for every Frosty sold to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. DTFA has the inspiring mission of working to help the more than 123,000 children in the U.S. waiting for adoptive families.

But, if Frosties aren’t your thing, not to worry. For $1, you can support the foundation by purchasing a Frosty pin-up at participating Wendy’s restaurants.

Wendy’s also will Wendy's will donate 50 cents to the foundation every time you spread the word through social media http://apps.facebook.com/TreatItForward,  create and send a customized Father’s Day e-card www.frostycard.com.

EBN works with DTFA each year as its media partner in its listing of the nation’s 100 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces. Click here, here and here to read EBN’s previous coverage. (Keep a tissue handy if you’re the sentimental type, like me. Some of these adoption stories are so touching.)

Shameless plug for an EBN partner aside, DTFA truly is working toward a lovely cause and I humbly ask for your support. As you honor the special fathers in your life, think how great it would be if every child had someone like that in their lives.

Happy Father’s Day!
