Two experts weigh in on why workers struggle to understand their benefits and where employers can improve.

When employees sit down to select their health benefits, they often don’t know where to begin. Employees often fail to understand basic insurance terminology, according to a survey from consumer directed healthcare company Alegeus. Meanwhile data from UnitedHealthcare indicates that while 77% of employees felt prepared for open enrollment, most spent less than three hours researching prospective health plans.

So if employees don’t understand their benefits, and they aren’t taking the time to research them. How do you get them to engage?
