Former Google executive joins Collective Health advisory board

Collective Health has added former Senior Vice President of People Operations at Google, Laszlo Bock, to its advisory board. During Bock's tenure at the search engine giant, Google topped many "Best Places to Work" lists and received more than 100 awards as an employer. "One of the most pressing issues today for employers, individuals and our nation is healthcare: How can we improve it to save even more lives, while also reducing costs and delivering a more human and compassionate experience. To me, no one is tackling these issues more effectively or cohesively than [the] team at Collective Health," said Bock.

The Standard promotes Flora to assistant vice president of internal auditing

Standard Insurance Company has promoted Stephanie Flora to the role of assistant vice president of internal auditing. Flora joined The Standard in 2002 as an internal auditor and later moved to the role of senior internal auditor where she was responsible for conducting complex audits of business units. In 2013, she was promoted to director of internal auditing.

ACAP Health hires Holden

Ted Holden has joined ACAP Health as director for commercial markets. Holden's mission is to "help ensure the solutions offered by ACAP Health are optimized to meet the needs of insurers in addition to employers," according to ACAP. Prior to this new role, Holden spent more than two decades in the insurance industry where he has served in leading sales and account management for national accounts and governmental areas. Most recently, he served as vice president of sales and client management with BlueCross BlueShield of Texas.

Pet insurer names Hauser AVP of veterinary relations

Hartville Pet Insurance Group has announced that Wendy Hauser, DVM, will join the company as assistant vice president of veterinary relations. HPIG says Hauser's role will be "to enhance Hartville's visibility with veterinarians and their clients to promote the value and benefits of pet health insurance." She has nearly 30 years of experience as both a practicing veterinarian and executive and most recently, she founded Peak Veterinary Consulting. She has also served as Technical Services Veterinarian for Merial, Ltd. Hauser will succeed Dr. Mary Beth Leininger, who will retire this spring.

Handshake names McCarthy as chief people officer

B2B commerce technology provider Handshake has appointed Paul McCarthy as the company's first chief people officer. In the newly created role, McCarthy will oversee People Operations and Strategy, and manage the employee attraction and retention programs. He will report directly to Glen Coates, Handshake's CEO. Prior to joining Handshake, McCarthy was vice president, head of people operations at Magnetic and was vice president, global head of talent management at LivePerson.

Rosenblum promoted to chief human resources officer at Guardian

The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America promoted Jay Rosenblum to chief human resources officer and is a new member of Guardian's Executive Leadership Team. He will report to Deanna Mulligan, president and chief executive officer. In his new role, Rosenblum will lead efforts to recruit and retain talent, enable a flexible and diverse workforce, and support Guardian's work culture. Previously, he served as senior vice president of government affairs for both Guardian and The Hartford. Earlier in his career, he served in the Clinton administration as a law clerk with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.

Segal names Sherman public sector market director

Andrew D. Sherman has been named national public sector market director for The Segal Group. His term starts May 1, 2017 and he will replace Cathie G. Eitelberg who retires at the end of May after more than two decades with Segal. Sherman, formerly a senior vice president, has been with Segal for more than 30 years and he currently manages the firm's public sector consulting for its Boston and Hartford offices. He has also been the firm's multiemployer health practice leader and he served on the Board of Directors of the Segal Group for the past 10 years.

The Standard names Tubesing as retirement plan consultant

The Standard has hired Kate Tubesing as a retirement plan consultant for its East Sales Region. She is based in The Standard's Cincinnati retirement plans sales and service office. Tubesing joins The Standard with more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, where she has specialized in retirement plans. Prior to joining The Standard, Tubesing held positions at Nationwide and Fidelity where served as Fidelity's managing director of client relationships. She served as an E4 Specialist in the U.S. Army, where she received an honorable discharge.
