Sun Life adds ID theft plan to travel service

Sun Life Financial Inc. recently enhanced its emergency travel assistance service for group basic life customers by adding identity theft protection. Both products, which do not offer insurance, are provided through Assist America, the nation’s largest provider of global emergency services.

SecurAssist Identity Protection assigns each employee a caseworker to notify credit bureaus, police, financial institutions and government agencies, as well as cancel stolen credit cards, reissue new cards and correct credit reports.

Assist America’s surveillance service monitors underground chat rooms where thieves sell and trade stolen personal information, and notifies customers if their credit cards are at risk of being misused.

Emergency Travel Assistance connects employees and their families to an operations center for help with a medical, dental, or personal emergency more than 100 miles from home any hour of the day or night. Among the services offered: emergency medical evacuation, legal and translation assistance, lost-prescription refills and hospital-admission guarantees.
