10 companies with the happiest employees

Cultivating a positive work environment can lead to better business outcomes: in fact, happy employees can be up to 12% more productive, according to a recent Gallup survey. But in order for an employee to be happy at their job, they first need a company dedicated to making it possible — and some have done a better job than most.

Surprisingly,  65% of U.S. workers are completely happy with their job, according to data from business insights platform Zippia. To identify the organizations getting it right, workplace insight company Comparably recently released its sixth annual list of the companies with the happiest employees, as part of their annual Best Places to Work series.

Comparably reviewed feedback submitted from employees themselves, after answering questions like: "Is your work environment positive or negative?"; "Are you satisfied with your benefits?"; "How often do you get a raise?"; and "Are you typically excited about going to work each day?" The answers were then given a numerical score and ranked accordingly.

Software company Workday took the top spot on this year's list, followed by restaurant and indoor golfing range franchise Topgolf. Rideshare company Uber came in third, a significant improvement from 17th place last year, and improving upon a work culture that was previously reported to be "aggressive" and "unrestrained," according to a 2017 New York Times article.

Other tech titans such as Google, Meta and Microsoft, however, all dropped down the list significantly this year, with none of them breaking the top 100. Last year, all three companies were in the top 50.  The drop could be due, in part, to the massive layoffs the tech industry saw early this year that affected more than 170,967 workers in the U.S.

See which workplaces made Comparably's top 10 happiest companies and what their employees had to say about them:
