The 10 best jobs of 2022

There are approximately 10.7 million people in the U.S. actively searching for jobs, according to job insights platform Zety. And with 93% of employers doing some form of hiring in 2022, according to job search platform Monster, the recruiting landscape is set to be especially active throughout the rest of the year. 

According to Indeed’s new Top Jobs of 2022 report, tech and healthcare are in the lead when it comes to industries that are hiring fast and offering the most appealing career opportunities to job seekers.

“It’s unsurprising with what we've seen the world go through over the last couple of years that healthcare is the biggest player in the list,” says Scott Bonneau vice president of global talent traction and HR analytics Indeed. “Part of that is just that there is an increase in demand, but also part of it is likely due to burnout that folks in those roles have felt over the last several years.”

Indeed ranked its top jobs based on employer demand, salary and consistent growth in the number of job postings from 2019 to 2022. And although positions like registered nurse and site reliability engineer are at the forefront, the other fields also point to interesting industry trends, according to Bonneau. 

“You've probably heard it said that all companies are technology companies these days as we move into the 21st century and beyond,” he says. “But there are also some really interesting roles in here that speak to things like supply chain, and also sustainability, like solar engineering and truck drivers. Those kinds of things just speak to the criticality supporting the current economy.”
