Company 'walks' cross-country for wellness

Accounting firm CCR is walking its way to wellness. Staff from the Boston and Glastonbury, Conn., offices will compete in the firm's new Wellness Trek to San Francisco.

The winning office will be the first to successfully "step" 3,000 miles, the distance to San Francisco. Employees' steps will be tracked by pedometers.

The competition is part of the CCR wellness committee's new program, which also offers free healthy snacks, Weight Watchers at Work, an annual wellness dollar allowance, take your children to work day and onsite time management and healthy eating seminars.

"CCR is excited to kick off this competition," said Len Pepe, managing partner of the Boston office, in a statement. "It allows us to showcase our individual commitment to health and wellness while also encouraging a spirit of teamwork. We are excited to see how fast the trek across the country can be made."

CCR was awarded the 2011 Workplace Wellness Award for Small Employer Business of the Year by the New Haven Chamber of Commerce.
