EBN Benny Award nomination deadline extended

Know any top-notch benefits managers who have transformed their company’s benefits program? Now is the time to recognize their accomplishments.

Nominations are open for Employee Benefit News’ annual Benny Awards, which recognize four individuals for excellence in the employee benefits/human resources field. The deadline has been extended to Friday, July 14.

Now in their 26th year, the Benny Awards have four categories: Benefits Professional of the Year, Benefits Leadership in Health Care, Benefits Leadership in Retirement Planning and Judges’ Choice.

The Benefits Professional of the Year is presented to a person who has demonstrated a pattern of creativity and achievement in plan design, administration, communication and/or staff management, as well as contributions to the benefits profession overall. The Leadership Awards in Health Care and Retirement Planning go to professionals who have demonstrated excellence in developing and managing programs, yielding measurable impacts on the cost and/or quality of these benefits. The Judges’ Choice winner is drawn from a wider spectrum of benefit programs and areas of professional responsibility.

Awards are granted to employee benefit or human resource practitioners directly involved in the management of employee benefit programs. Benefits professionals may be nominated by themselves or others; benefit vendors or consultants may nominate their clients. Only one person or team per company may be nominated.

Winners must agree to be interviewed and will be profiled in the September print issue of Employee Benefit News and on www.benefitnews.com.

Last year’s winners were: Christine Durkee, vice president of human resources operations at BJ’s Wholesale Club (Benefits Professional of the Year); Angie Villamaria, director of associate wellness for Centura Health (Benefits Leadership in Health Care); Bahati VanPelt, executive director of the Trust (Benefits Leadership in Retirement Planning); and Mike Greenberg, vice president of benefits at Hudson’s Bay Company (Judges’ Choice).

Winners will be notified by the end of July.
