Hatch aims to move CMS

Citing issues with accountability and transparency, Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), the chair of the Finance Committee, says he plans to introduce legislation to move the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services out of the Department of Health and Human Services.

Referencing the Social Security Administration’s separation from HHS nearly 20 years ago, Hatch on Wednesday said in prepared remarks for the Finance Committee’s hearing on President Barack Obama’s HHS budget, “I intend to introduce legislation to move CMS out of HHS.”
