(Bloomberg) — California said 28,699 people were signed up in the state’s health insurance exchange in the first week, while New York had more than 40,000 sign up.
However, a broker from the front lines in California is baffled about how anyone got through. “At no point did the website every get fixed so that I could apply myself or do so for anyone else as an agent,” said Dave Fear Jr. on Monday afternoon, Roseville, Calif.-based owner of Fear Insurance Services. “Supposedly someone in California was able to apply online but I have had no success. I want to personally complete an app on line and I haven’t been able to do so.” He said during the first week he had to resort to paper applications and he feels those applications are better to “just to wait until things get a little more ironed out.”
