Historically, the spring and summer months are the busiest times of year in the real estate market. As the weather warms up, it’s a perfect time for employers to consider offering homeowner assistance as an employee benefit. Homeowner assistance benefits, also known as employer-assisted housing (EAH) programs, are becoming increasingly important for employees as the cost of living rises due to inflation and high mortgage rates.

A record number of Americans are struggling to afford rent. The latest data from the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies, released in January, found that a record high 22.4 million renter households — or half of renters nationwide — were spending more than 30% of their income on rent in 2022. On top of that, home prices continue to surge in most major U.S. metros. According to Realtor Magazine, some markets even posted double-digit gains in home prices.
